For many of us, 2021 has yet to be much different than the bulk of last year. This is in spite of the fact that our collective narrative has been that with the turning of the calendar will come new possibilities. While there's no doubt that last year was extremely challenging, it also brought with it some amazing opportunities for growth and clarity.
Instead of looking to "get back to normal" we might take a moment to think about how to apply what we've learned to make for a more productive and fulfilling athlete experience.
Here are five areas we can put these lessons into action:
- Don't rush into things. Fitness is defined in many different ways.
- Leave space for the process.
- Utilize the "Fresh Start Effect". "Temporal Landmarks" make for good opportunities for goal setting.
- Write down what you've learned from the last year.
- Challenge yourself!
